I have been contacted by Detective Inspector Thompson, Warwickshire Police Intelligence Unit, in respect of a developing national trend:
“Nationally there have been reports of individuals targeting the elderly and administering fake vaccinations for a fee.
Regionally/Nationally we are also seeing fake emails being sent to the vulnerable and elderly purporting to be the NHS and asking them to click on a link to obtain vaccines.
They are then usually asked to provide a payment or bank details.
The NHS will never ask for payment or bank details from patients and I do believe the NHS send letters out for patients to book appointments for tests”.
Warwickshire Police will be highlighting the issue through social media, with relevant contact details should a member of the community feel they have been subjected to such a message or email. There will also be more information available on the Warwickshire Police website.
